Remote MikroTik management

Fix the router from anywhere. Keep Winbox off the public internet.

Reach RouterOS sites behind CGNAT, open controlled Winbox and RoMON access, and manage the fleet from one private operational workspace.

Reach the router

Connect RouterOS 7 through native WireGuard, even when the WAN sits behind CGNAT.

Open Winbox safely

Create controlled access without publishing port 8291 or circulating router passwords.

See the whole fleet

Track reachability, assigned overlay addresses, topology and recent activity in one console.

Give access, then revoke it

Manage technician access centrally instead of distributing permanent VPN profiles.

One connection, normal operations

From unreachable router to controlled access.

The engineering stays under the surface. Your team gets a repeatable path from onboarding to diagnosis.

  1. 01

    Add the MikroTik

Create a device in Wantastic and choose MikroTik. The console prepares a RouterOS 7 configuration for that device.

  2. 02

    Apply the generated script

Paste the script into a RouterOS terminal. The router initiates the encrypted connection; no package is installed on the router.

  3. 03

    Verify it is online

Confirm the device appears online, has an assigned overlay address and reports a recent handshake before creating access.

  4. 04

    Work through the right tool

Launch controlled Winbox access, use RoMON for downstream RouterOS devices, or open browser tools for connected non-MikroTik systems.

Built for the work after connectivity

Private networking is the foundation, not the finish line.

Winbox, WebSSH and private web tools

Use native Winbox for RouterOS. Use browser-based SSH and WebProxy for connected systems and LAN-only interfaces.

Access that matches the job

Create dedicated access paths for technicians, review activity and revoke centrally when the work is finished.

Topology and fleet context

See what is reachable, how sites relate and which device needs attention before opening a session.

Remote MikroTik questions

Does Wantastic require an agent on MikroTik RouterOS?

No. RouterOS 7 devices use the native WireGuard client. Wantastic generates the RouterOS configuration so the router can initiate outbound connectivity to the private management network.

Does this work behind CGNAT, LTE or Starlink?

Yes. The MikroTik initiates the connection, so the managed path does not depend on a public WAN address or inbound port forwarding.

Do I expose TCP port 8291 to the internet?

No. Winbox access is routed through the private management path. The router's Winbox service does not need to be published on its WAN interface.

Can I reach downstream MikroTik devices with RoMON?

Yes. A connected MikroTik gateway can preserve RoMON workflows for downstream RouterOS devices, subject to the network and access policy you configure.

The next MikroTik issue can start with access already solved.

Connect one RouterOS 7 device, verify the private path and open Winbox without touching the WAN firewall.
